I Predict Premonition Will Win the Race on the Home Market Charts

DVD Releases for July 17, 2007

July 16th, 2007

Another week without a first run release that stands out and the limited releases, classics, and TV on DVD aren't able to fill in the gap. There were a couple of releases that piqued my interest, including Ace in the Hole - Criterion Collection and Yo-Yo Girl Cop, but neither really climb to the level of DVD Pick of the Week. More...

Per Theater Chart is a Lonely Avenue

Avenue Montaigne was the only film to top $10,000 on the Per Theater Chart this week. The film dipped less than 30% but maintained an average of $10,376 in its two theaters. More...

Per Theater Chart Won by the Other Foreign Language Oscar Contender

February 13th, 2007

Discussion about the Best Foreign Language Oscar has so far been dominated by Pan's Labyrinth, but this weekend The Lives of Others made the case that it shouldn't be ignored. The film opened with more than $200,000 in 13 theaters for an average of $16,430. It is still a long shot to expand beyond 100 theaters, but this is a good beginning. In second place was the overall box office leader, Norbit, which pulled in an average of $10,904 in more than 3,000 theaters, much to the chagrin of movie critics everywhere. Finally, last week's winner, Factory Girl placed third, earning an average of $10,872 in its 18 theaters. More...

Girl has Reasonable Start on Per Theater Chart

February 6th, 2007

There was only one member of the $10,000 club this week as Factory Girl pulled in nearly $90,000 in 3 theaters for an average of $29,159. However, An Unreasonable Man came awfully close with $9,813 in its lone theater. More...

Movie Website Updates for January 27 - February 2, 2007

February 3rd, 2007

Busy week for limited releases and a busy week for websites, which explains why I'm wrapping things up at midnight. There wasn't a whole lot on this week's list that really attracted my attention, but I'm giving the Weekly Website Award to Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters - Official Site, mainly for their ... extracurricular activities of the viral marketers in Boston. And remember people, real bombs are meant to be inconspicuous, they won't sing you a song or make rude gestures at you. More...

Limited Releases Explode onto Screens

February 2nd, 2007

The limited release market has been rather slow so far this year, but that changed this weekend with nearly a dozen films on this week's list. On the one hand, this means there is plenty of choice for moviegoers. On the other hand, there's no chance that all films will be able to live up to their potential given the competition. More...

Movie Website Updates for December 22 - December 29, 2006

December 30th, 2006

Another abridged list with just the sites for movies opening this week, and two others. While there is less than a dozen films on this week list, the first one, Arthur and the Invisibles - Official Site, is worthy of the Weekly Website Award. More...

Limited Releases - One Last Stab at Oscar Glory - UPDATED

December 29th, 2006

Another busy week for new releases with eight films coming out, more than half that were obviously made for Oscar glory. While it is unlikely that any will be the big winner on Oscar night, I could see four of the films at least earning some nominations. More...

Movie Website Updates for November 11 - November 17, 2006

November 18th, 2006

A lot of trailers on this week's list of websites. Not only were there a lot of site with just trailers, there were a few trailers without sites. On the other hand, there were also a few contenders for the Weekly Website Award. In the end it was The Children of Men - Official Site that took home that prestigious award. More...
