2007 - Holiday Gift Guide - Part III

December 16th, 2007

This week, the Holiday Gift guide discusses movies as its theme, but not just any movie can get on this list. This is for smaller movies, ones that might have slipped past most people's attention. The top ten movies of the year would also make great gifts, but you don't need me to tell you about them. (Except to say The Simpsons Movie doesn't come out on DVD and Blu-Ray until Tuesday.) Here we have independent films, foreign films, and yes, a few Canadian films. ... Okay, more than a few Canadian films. More...

DVD Releases for December 11, 2007

December 11th, 2007

There's a deceptively weak selection of releases this week. Sure, we have DVDs from Harry Potter, Lost, High School Musical, and The Bourne Identity. However, outside of those four franchises, there are no releases in the top ten at Amazon. In fact, you have to get to 17th place on Amazon's charts to find a new release that isn't related to the big four. It took a bit to narrow it down to one selection, but that is Harry Potter Years 1-5 Limited Edition Gift Set - Blu-Ray. Not only is this release worth getting in High Definition, it is worth upgrading to Blu-Ray for. (Although I still suggest waiting a little while longer for the first 2.0 Players to come out.) Also, I got to give out the rare DVD Puck of the Week to The Rocket - Buy from Amazon. More...

Movie Website Reviews for Weekend of November 30, 2007

December 2nd, 2007

Slow week, both in terms of the number of movies being released, and in terms of the quality of the sites. Aaja Nachle - Official Site stood out as the best site, but not good enough to win the Weekly Website Award. More...

Possible Oscar Battle on the Limited Front

November 30th, 2007

With the official beginning of award season happening earlier in the week, it should come as no surprise that there are a couple potential Oscar winners among this week's films. It's a close battle between The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Savages for the most glory, but there are a few other films worth checking out as well. More...
