DVD Releases for March 20, 2007

March 20th, 2007

It's a busy week for DVDs, and it's even busier next week. Not only are the overall numbers high, the quality is good too, with several films from last year's award season / holiday rush coming to the home market. One of these films, Rocky Balboa - Buy from Amazon, was a serious contender for DVD Pick of the Week, as was a TV on DVD release, NewsRadio - The Complete Fifth Season - Buy from Amazon. Sun is Still Shining on Per Theatre Charts

August 8th, 2006

Little Miss Sunshine saw its theatre count explode from 7 to 58 over the weekend and this obviously had a detrimental effect on its per theatre average. That film was the overall box office leader, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, which opened with just over $47 million in 3,803 theatres for an average of $12,370. The final film to top $10,000 was Quinceanera with an average of $11,925 in its 8 theatres. This is a strong enough start to assure the film will expand and perhaps enough to grab some mainstream success. More...
