Awards Season: Early Nods Speak Volumes

November 30th, 2011

As it does every year, Independent Spirit Award nominations kick off the unofficial start of Awards Season. This year there were two films that topped the list of nominations: The Artist and Take Shelter. Both of those films earned five nominations, but they weren't the only films to be singled out. DVD and Blu-ray Releases for October 11th, 2011

October 12th, 2011

It's not a particularly strong week on the home market. The biggest first run release coming out this week is Horrible Bosses, which was a surprise $100 million hit. Green Lantern will likely be the best selling release of the week, but it disappointed with critics and at the box office. As far as the best of the best goes, The Tree of Life Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack is the best bet as far as Pick of the Week goes, bu there are a few others that are worth picking up. There are also a couple of late arrivals that deserve honorable mentions this week: Castle: Season Three and Dumbo - Blu-ray Combo Pack. More...

Terri got off to a good start in limited release earning more than $10,000 on the per theater chart. However, despite this, it quickly petered out and was never able to expand significantly. Will it find that audience on the home market? More...

Per Theater Chart: Transformers Towers over Terri

July 6th, 2011

There were only two films in the $10,000 club with Transformers: Dark of the Moon easily outperforming Terri $23,937 to $10,851. For the former, that was enough to break records over Independence Day. For the latter it's probably not enough to suggest significant expansion, but it might stick around longer than most limited releases. More...

Looking for the Perfect Limited Release

June 30th, 2011

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be overshadowing everything else at the box office, but that doesn't mean there are no limited releases coming out this weekend. But are any of them worth checking out? There are a couple with overwhelmingly positive reviews, plus a couple have earned some pre-release buzz, but none that have managed both. More...
