Synopsis

Hrothgar is a Danish king who murders a troll that has been terrorizing his countryside. But Hrothgar spares the life of the troll’s strange young son, who with the passage of years grows to become Grendel, a fearsome warrior intent upon avenging his father’s death. As Grendel begins his slaughter of the king’s closest confidants, Hrothgar realizes his life is in danger, and he calls upon the brave and fearless Beowulf to track down and kill Grendel. As Beowulf and his band of warriors search for the vicious and elusive Grendel, he crosses paths with Selma, a beautiful and sensuous witch whose alliances are divided between Beowulf and his archenemy.

DVD Releases for November 6, 2007 - Part I

November 6th, 2007

Now that Halloween is over, the Christmas shopping season has (un)officially started and there is a flood of DVDs coming out this week, so much so that we again had to split the list into two parts. (And looking at next week's list, we might have to do it again.) Despite this long list, it was an easy choice for DVD Pick of the Week: Cars - Blu-Ray Release. Although when the other two Blu-Ray Pixar screeners show up, I might have to revise that choice. More...

September 26th, 2006

It was a difficult week to come up with a winner for the DVD Pick of the Week. This was partially because of the huge list of movies being released tomorrow and partially because I'm on cold medication. There were several contenders for the honor but in the end I went with Lady Vengeance - Buy from Amazon and Masters of Horror - Imprint - Buy from Amazon. But be warned, their extreme storytelling means that they are not for everyone. More...

Contest - 'Tis The Season for Prizes

September 25th, 2006

This week's box office prediction contest asks you to predict the opening weekend for Open Season, which should have a pretty easy time taking top spot this coming weekend. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), without going over will win Beowulf & Grendel on DVD. The person who comes the closest to the film's opening 3-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), without going under, will win "Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses" on DVD. In addition, both winners will take home a copy of The Looking Glass Wars, both the novel and the CD soundtrack. Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay! More...
