DVD Releases for January 23, 2007

January 23rd, 2007

Business is starting to pick up again for DVD releases. It's still not up to the level of the pre-Christmas boom, or even the yearly average, but at least it's not a desolate wasteland either. There were a couple releases that were contenders for DVD Pick of the Week, but in the end I went with This Film is Not Yet Rated - Buy from Amazon, but since I work in the industry, at least tangentially, my enjoyment of the movie may have been increased somewhat. Contest - Back to School Blowout!

September 4th, 2006

With school starting for millions of kids tomorrow have prizes based on that theme. The movie you need to predict the opening weekend box office for is The Covenant, which is the only true wide release of the week. Both the person who comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), without going over and without going under, will win the same prize pack. For the kids we have Two Gerald McBoing Boing DVDs, Adventures and Fairytales while for the college crowd we have Dorm Daze 2. Finally, a third winner will be chosen at random from the pool of eligible entries and that person will win a T-shirt and Hat from This Film is Not Yet Rated. This is for the high school student who wants a day off as it says, "Censorship get..." and you can guess the rest. It is edited, but wearing it to class will still probably get you sent home. And when you do, don't mention my name. Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay! More...
