Per Theater Chart: It is Obvious Who Won

Obvious Child led the way on the per theater chart with $77,000 in three theaters for an average of $25,772. The Fault in Our Stars earned an average of $15,128, which was surprisingly strong. The final film in the $10,000 club was Citizen Koch, which earned $10,200 in one theater.

There were several other new limited releases, but only one of them, Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, did well earning an average of $7,020 in three theaters. The Animal Project opened in one theater in Canada and earned $3,800. Tracks earned an average of $3,321 in four theaters. Holiday was playing in 144 theaters, so it is not surprising that it only managed a per theater average of $2,741. 2 Autumns, 3 Winters avoided the Mendoza Line, barely, with $2,163 in its lone theater. Ping Pong Summer was not as lucky with an average of $1,876 in 17 theaters. Filmistan was right behind with an average of $1,296 in 24 theaters. The Sacrament was well back with $583 in one theater.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Ida reached the $1 million mark just before the weekend. It should get to $2 million before too long.
  • The Lunchbox made it to $4 million just before the weekend, but that's as far as it will go.
  • Chef got to $10 million over the weekend, which is faster than expected. $15 million is very likely, but it might take a few weeks to get there.
