Per Theater Chart: Awards Season is In Session

October 23, 2012

The Sessions was one of two films to top $10,000 over the weekend on the Per Theater Chart. It managed an average of $28,367 in four theaters. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie - Part 1: Beginnings / Part 2: Eternal earned an average of $12,468 in five theaters.

There were actually a few other new limited releases that did well, The Flat earned an average of $9,958 in two theaters. Holy Motors was also playing in two theaters and earned an average of $9,433 over the weekend. However, it was a Wednesday release, so had it opened on Friday, it would have almost assuredly topped $10,000 on the per theater chart. Brooklyn Castle was right behind with an average of $9,381, also in two theaters. On the other hand, Nobody Walks struggled with an average of $3,635, also in two theaters. Student of the Year was playing in more than 100 theaters and made an average of $3,080. Tai Chi Zero was playing in a lot more theaters, too many of them, and earned an average of $2,745. All Together missed the Mendoza Line with an average of $1,289 in ten theaters. The First Time was even weaker with an average of $898 in 19.

There were no major milestones this past week. That will change next weekend.
