DVD Sales: Madea Feeling Big

TV on DVD releases are really starting to dominate the chart with five of the top ten releases on the DVD sales chart this week. However, Madea's Big Happy Family managed to take top spot with 371,000 units, while it pulled in $5.92 million in opening week sales. Another new release, Sons of Anarchy: Season Three, had the highest revenue at $9.48 million on 271,000 units sold. Rio sold an additional 140,000 units for the week for totals of 2.90 million units / $43.54 million after five. The Vampire Diaries: Season Two, opened in fourth place with 129,000 units / $4.79 million. Laugh to Keep From Crying: The Play debuted in fifth place with 120,000 units while generating $1.68 million during its first week on the home market.

House, M.D.: Season Seven missed the top five in terms of units with 86,000 units, but placed fourth in terms of dollars at $3.36 million. The only other new release to chart was Prom at 34,000 units / $547,000.
