DVD Sales: Fast Five Takes Checkered Flag

The list of new releases to reach the top 30 on this week's DVD sales chart was short with only two such DVDs. This does include a new number one film, Fast Five, which sold 851,000 units while generating $13.92 million during its first week of release. Transformers: Dark of the Moon landed in second place with 628,000 units / $10.67 million during its first full week of release, giving it totals of 1.37 million units / $24.71 million. Bridesmaids remained one of the best selling DVDs of 2011 with 215,000 units / $3.56 million for the week and 1.84 million units / $29.53 million after three. Spooky Buddies slipped a spot to fourth with 114,000 units / $1.93 million for the week giving it 628,000 units / $10.06 million after three weeks of release. The previous installment in the franchise sold significantly more than that during its opening week. The final new release to chart was Scream 4, which earned fifth place with 111,000 units and $1.78 million.
