Per Theater Chart Rocked this Weekend

April 15, 2009

There were only two films to get into the $10,000 club on the Per Theater Chart this past weekend, and both had a musical theme. Anvil! The Story of Anvil was first with $11,550, while Hannah Montana the Movie was second with $10,367.

There were only three other new releases that we have box office numbers for, and only one of those earned respectable business. That film was Lymelife, which earned an average of $6,940 in 4 theaters. Monster Beach Party just missed the Mendoza Line with an average of $1,865 in 2 theaters, while The Mysteries of Pittsburgh was just a little further down with an average of $1,639 in 20.

There was only one major milestone on the chart during the past weekend, which is not unusual for this time of year. Sunshine Cleaning collapsed at the box office, but it still made it to $5 million since last week. That is as far as it will go, on the other hand.
