Up on Top of the Per Theater Chart

June 2, 2009

Only one film cracked the $10,000 mark on the per theater chart, and that film was the overall box office leader, Up. It opened with $68 million in 3,766 theaters for an impressive average of $18,085.

At least one of the new releases came close to that mark, as Departures opened with nearly $75,000 in 9 theaters for an average of $8,327. On the other hand, Munyurangabo opened with a mere $1,703 in one theater while Pontypool was just behind with $1,541.

There were not many milestones this week with The Brothers Bloom reaching their first $1 million. It won't have an issue getting to $2 million.
