Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of June 12th, 2009

June 13, 2009

Terrible week more movie site with two movies without a site I could find, two more that either had too many dead links or crashed my browser, and a couple others with just the bare minimum, or less. None jump up as worth of the Weekly Website Award, but I think I was most pleasantly surprised by Moon's Official Site.

Blast! - Official Site
A lot of information here, but it's presented in a way that lessens the impact. Not enough polish.

Call of the Wild 3D - Official Site
Just the bare minimum. In fact, the bios are just links to IMDb. It does have a more professional look than a lot of limited release sites, but that's not enough to stand out.

Dead Snow - Official Site
Just the trailer.

Death of a Ghost Hunter - No Official Site
Nothing to review.

Food, Inc. - Official Site
A typical site for Agitprop documentary sites. In other words, it spends as much time talking about the issues and getting people to take action as it does spend trying to get people to see the movie. I have no problem with advocacy documentaries, in fact I think they are the best kind, but if you don't try and sell the movie more, you might be reduced to preaching to the choir.

Imagine That - Official Site
All the usual features are here, plus a few clips and some interactive features. Using the magic blanket to uncover the designs on each page is the most unique feature here, but it's not enough to rise above the crowd.

Kal Kissne Dekha - No Official Site
Nothing to review.

Moon - Official Site
An strong site for a limited release with plenty of information, including the usual features like the synopsis, cast & crew bios, images, and trailer. There is also information on the real-life science behind the movie, which is interesting to read. Additionally, there's enough animation in the site to give the site a sense of style, which is better than most limited release sites. The lack of sound hurts, on the other hand, and it doesn't truly stand out.

Street Dreams - Official Site
A bit of a mess. A lot of the links are dead and there's not a lot of content left. Additionally, it doesn't have a very professional feel. (The dead links don't help there.)

Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - Official Site
This site keeps crashing my browser. Can't review what I can't see.
