DVD Rentals - Nothing Knew On top of the Rental Chart

July 30, 2009

Firstly, that pun in the headline is so bad I caused my physical pain when I wrote it. But as it implies, none of the new releases were able to topple Knowing leaving the DVD in top spot on the rental chart. A Haunting in Connecticut came in second with about 22% fewer rentals while Push was a distant third. The Unborn just beat out Horsemen, which opened in fifth place.

The only other new release to chart was Van Wilder - Freshman Year, which barely made it into 30th place.

We saw mixed numbers overall. Compared to last week total rentals increased 1.3% to $144.1 million, but compared to last year they were down 13.2%.
