DVD Rentals - Year is Number One

October 20, 2009

There were several new releases to reach the top 30 on this week's rental chart, including Year One, which took top spot with roughly double the rentals of Monsters vs. Aliens. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past landed in third place just ahead of My Life in Ruins, which appears to be saving its chances at profitability on the home market. Management rounded out the top five.

Trick 'r Treat opened in 14th place while The Merry Gentleman was right behind in 15th place. Imagine That opened in 26th place, while Assassination of a High School President just missed the top 30.

Overall the rental market was a mixed. Compared to last week it was down 2.8% falling to $149.1 million, but it was up 10.1% higher compared to the same week last year. This latter number is a lot more important.
