Sexy Start on the Per Theater Chart

June 3, 2008

The overall box office leader, Sex and the City, was also the leader on the Per Theater Chart with $17,305. Second place went to Savage Grace, which earned an average of $11,156 in two theaters. Last week's winner, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, snagged third place this weekend with and average of $10,496. On the other hand, War, Inc. just missed the $10,000 by the tiniest of tiny margins at $9,985.

The Foot Fist Way was the best of the rest of the new releases and it nearly found its way to the $10,000 club with $9,098. The rest of the new releases fit in a close range to each other with The Unknown Woman earning $5,700 in one theater, Bigger, Faster, Stronger* earned just over $30,000 in 6 theaters for an average of $5,263, while Stuck rounding out the new releases with a respectable average of $4,422 from two theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Charts alumni:

  • Son of Rambow reached $1 million since last week, but it won't get too much further.
  • The Band's Visit topped $3 million about 2 months after it hit $2 million.
  • The Visitor lifted its running tally to $5 million, but that's likely the last milestone it will reach.
