Award Season - Scorsese Digging His Chances

The Directors Guild of America handed out their awards this weekend but while there were plenty of awards handed out, only two were for theatrical releases.

Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film

• Martin Scorsese for The Departed

• Arunas Matelis for Pries Parskrendant i Zeme, a.k.a., Before Flying Back to Earth

• The Directors Guild of America has correctly prediction the Oscar Winner for Best director in 50 of the 58 previous years so this award has to be a huge boost to Martin Scorsese's chances.
• Pries Parskrendant i Zeme, a.k.a., Before Flying Back to Earth, was the only documentary to not have a theatrical release here, (it did play at some film festivals).
