Weekend Estimates: Moviegoers Wild for Hogs

March 4th, 2007

Wild Hogs scored a big victory at the box office over the weekend, earning an estimated $38 million, according to studio estimates released on Sunday. That was comfortably ahead of expectations, in spite of poor reviews. In a depressingly familiar turn of events, Zodiac was somewhat behind projections with $13.1 million, despite excellent reviews. That was good enough for second place, however, which placed Zodiac well ahead of Black Snake Moan's very modest $4.0 million debut.

Among the holdovers, The Number 23 and Reno 911 were both weak, falling 51% and 63.5% respectively. Everything else in the top ten held on well, with Amazing Grace starring in its second weekend in release, down only 26%.
