IMAX - Spidey's Record Breaking Debut was Big, Really Big

May 8, 2007

Spider-Man 3 broke several IMAX records over the weekend, starting with biggest single day at $2.2 million. The film also has the biggest domestic weekend at $4.8 million and the biggest worldwide weekend at $6.3 million.

This is the second film of the year to break IMAX records as 300 set records earlier in the year on its way to more than $20 million IMAX run.

Next up is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which opens July 13th. It will be hard for that film to also have a record-breaking performance, but we can't rule it out either.
