Movie Website Updates for June 10 - June 16, 2007

June 17, 2007

There weren't as many websites on this week's list as in the past few weeks, but there were at least three that earned some consideration for the Weekly Website Award. In the end, that honor went to I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry - Official Site.

Arctic Tale - Official Site
Just the synopsis.

Balls of Fury - Official Site
All of the regular features were added to the site, as was the viral marketing section. I don't know if these help a film's box office, but they certainly are fun for fans.

Bratz - Official Site
The flash site launched this week and it has all of the usual features. Extras are limited to character bios and a section called Bratitude, which is marked coming soon.

DOA: Dead or Alive - Official Site
... The movie is playing in theaters. The site is still marked coming soon.

Eagle vs. Shark - Official Site
The site has a lot of content, but a low-key feel to it. In addition to the usual features, there's a high concentration on social networking sites, and considering the film's limited release and the lack of a marketing budget, this is probably a very good idea.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - Official Site
Finally! There's finally a good website for this movie. I can't believe it took this long for a for them to put this together, it should have been this fully-loaded for a month. In addition to the regular features, (synopsis, bios, image gallery, trailers), there are sections for each of the four main characters that includes bios, images and a TV spot, (for half of them at least). There's also plenty of sound and animation and had the site started like this and expanded over the weeks, it would have been an award-worthy site. As it is, it falls just short.

Fido - Official Site
All the basics are here, but there's not a lot here to set it apart. I do like the trailer, but a movie like this deserves a site with more style.

The Game Plan - Official Site
The game was added to the site, as was a Father's Day Certificate.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry - Official Site
The flash site launched this week and it is loaded with sound and animation, audio quotes, sound effects, mouse-over animations, etc. In addition, all of the regular features are here, (minus the bios, which are marked coming soon), and there are extras like a behind-the-scenes clips, a personality quiz, and a rather fun game. There's a lot to explore here, and even though a lot of the things you'll find are rather insubstantial, (like the birds flying past the window), overall it still adds a lot to the experience. In the end, while there was certainly competition, this site is still the best of the bunch and the winner of the unauthenticated Weekly Website Award.

Illegal Tender - Official Site
There's a new look, but the only new content is the behind-the-scenes clip.

Live Free or Die Hard - Official Site
The rest of the regular features were added, and so was another game. You can even play this game on the Wii, if you have the Internet connection through it.

Mr. Bean's Holiday - Official Site
There's a new site for the domestic release. It is nearly identical to the old one, but with less content.

Nancy Drew - Official Site
A series of additional video journals were added this week. Overall the site built up very well and is a contender for the Weekly Website Award, unfortunately, it is was good week in that regard and it just missed out. However, it does deserve a honorable mention.

No Country for Old Men - Official Site
Just the synopsis.

Ratatouille - Official Site
Two more behind-the-scenes videos were added to the site, lifting the total to 10 so far. While I love these videos, I don't know if the site as a whole is really selling the movie to the younger set. The CG / Pixar enthusiastic will be sold, but I don't know if it will draw in enough families to reach $300 million.

Rescue Dawn - Official Site
There's a new look and all the regular features are here. There are also two text-based features on the real-life side of the story.

Stardust - Official Site
A few more residents of Stormhold were added to the site this week.

Sweeney Todd - Official Site
No real content so far, but the movie doesn't open for another 6 months so there's plenty of time to change that.

Tell No One - Official Site
Just the basics with short clips in-between sections.

The Ten - Official Site
There's a new look to the site, but there's not much there in terms of new content.

Vantage Point - Official Site
Just the trailer, and it isn't even on the site.

Wall-E - No Official Site
No site yet, but the teaser trailer is online.

You Kill Me - Official Site
The 12-step program was added to the site, which contains several video clips.
