Bend it Like Beckham Kicks-off its Box Office Run

March 17, 2003

The champion of British films, Bend it Like Beckham got off to a great start, earning nearly $200,000 since it opened on Wednesday. Its per theatre take of nearly $27,000 over the weekend was nearly twice as much as its nearest competitor, Spun.

Bend it Like Beckham’s box office run will inevitable be compared with other British films, most notably The Full Monty. The Full Monty, which holds the record for the largest domestic box office for a British Film.

The Full Monty earned $15,000 more during its opening weekend. It's too early to say if Bend it Like Beckham is going to seriously challenge the record.
