Rats Make Per Theater Chart Sick

July 3, 2007

There were only two films to crack $10,000 on the per theater chart this week, both of which placed in the top ten overall. The box office champion, Ratatouille, finished in first place with an average of $11,936 while Sicko wasn't too far behind with $10,208.

The new limited releases were led by the re-release of Le Doulos with $9,362 in its lone theater while Ghosts of Cité Soleil brought in $9,720, but only $7,100 of that came from the weekend. In Between Days earned $5,065 over the weekend and $7,027 since Wednesday. One to Another did reasonably well with $4,515. It may have been anticipated, but Vitus flopped with an average of just $2,861, or $3,976 including Wednesday to Sunday. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox was less than magical with $1,570 while Falling fell flat with just $509.

There was only one major milestone as Sicko reached $4 million. And that's only if you consider the film a limited release still. Next week we should see more milestone topped as a few films landed just shy this weekend.
