Theater Count Report: Five Movies Go Into Wide Release

January 6th, 2006

January is a slow box office month, but that hasn't stopped Hollywood... No less than five movies enter wide release this weekend: Hostel, Grandma's Boy and Bloodrayne are all new in theaters, while Munich and Casanova both expand from limited release. With many holiday holdovers still going strong, there are no less than 18 films in wide release. That's good for moviegoers, but will make it very hard for any movie to rise above the rest.
