Fun on the Home Market

Fun with Dick and Jane started its home market run off with a first place, $10.27 million run for the week but was unable to top the DVD sales chart. Second place when to Narnia with $6.26 million; the film was down 28 for the week but lifted its total of $15.14 million after two weeks. Wolf Creek opened in third place with $5.38 million head of both King Kong and Brokeback Mountain, which pulled in $4.89 million and $3.77 million respectively.

An Unfinished Life just missed the top five during its debut week earning $3.23 million while The Greatest Game Ever Played was the only other new release to chart earning ninth place with just $2.62 million. That's a disappointing total even compared to is small theatrical take.

The streak of week-to-week declines in the overall rental market continues with a 3.3% drop-off to $144.4 million. However, that figure was 10.2% higher than the same weekend last year and the year-to-date total is now just 0.5% behind 2005 at $2.4 billion.

There were little difference this week on the DVD sales chart with Narnia again leading the way. The only newcomer in the top five was Fun with Dick and Jane coming in second place. King Kong and Chicken Little remained in third and fourth while Brokeback Mountain fell from second to fifth.

Other new releases to chart this week include Wolf Creek in sixth and The Greatest Game Ever Played in seventh. Pooh's Grand Adventure - The Search for Christopher Robin opened in 11th place while An Unfinished Life was well back in 16th place.

There were only two new releases on the TV on DVD sales charts, but neither finished in the top five. This helped Robot Chicken - Volume 1 climb back into first place during its third week of release. South Park - The Complete Seventh Season remained in second ahead of Mind of Mencia - Uncensored Season 1 as that release climbed from eighth to third. Full House - The Complete Third Season remained in fourth place while Grey's Anatomy - Season 1 climbed a spot to fifth.

The best of the new releases was In Living Color - The Complete Fifth Season in sixth place while The Bob Newhart Show - The Complete Third Season came in eighth.
