Movie Websites Launches for April 1 - April 7

April 7, 2005

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner, Yes - Official Site.

Crash
A new intro was added, but so far only the trailer is on the site with Experience the Film and Film Information marked coming soon.

Crystal
No changed since the site was first on the list.

Domino
Just the teaser trailer so far, in fact, too it's too much of a teaser to judge the film by, but it didn't make me want to watch the movie any more than I did before I watched it, so it failed on that aspect.

Eros
The movie is actually three stories in one, each starring a different cast and directed by a different director, so the site has the usual information for each of the stories. But there is nothing in the way of extras.

Fever Pitch
The movie opens tomorrow but two of the three features marked coming soon last week are still marked coming soon. The single feature that was added was a behind-the-scenes video.

Happily Ever After
Simple site with all the usual features but no real extras. (The closest it has are text interviews with the cast / director.)

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
The Guide to the Guide was added to the site, which has information on a wide variety of topics including the characters, towels, and of course the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. Each section also has a bit of animation and an audio clip to go with it. A very fun section to explore.

The Honeymooners
New flash site is up, but there's very little in the way of content just the synopsis, image gallery, trailer and three mini-games.

Kung Fu Hustle
An award winning site with everything I site should have, regular features, (synopsis, cast and crew bios, etc.) extras like video clips of various premieres and interactive features, which in this case include four games to play.

Madagascar
The first part of the Fun and Learning section was added to the site.

Me and You and Everyone We Know
Nothing but the name and an image.

Probed
There's a new look, but very little new content, just a short synopsis.

Rize
Nothing but the name and an image.

Sahara
Still loading really slowly. Annoyingly slow. Unexpectedly slow. So slow that I'm starting to hate the movie because of it, and that's not good advertising.

Smile
No changes since the flash site first launched.

State Property 2
Just the trailer, which isn't even available in Quicktime yet. Like the original, this film look like nothing more than the stereotypical gagsta flick.

Suits on the Loose
The movie opens tomorrow, but the website is still marked coming soon.

Tideland
Another behind the scenes clip was added to the site, this time about the On the Set Painter, Charmaine Husum.

Undead
A new animated intro was added to the site, but the full site is still marked coming soon.

War of the Worlds
New flash site was launched this week, but there's not much in the way of information. No cast and crew bios, for instance. There are plenty of video clips, including several from an interview with Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise. There was also a preview for the online game, but it doesn't look half as good as the game based on the Jeff Wayne musical.

Winter Solstice
No changes since the flash site first launched.

Yes
A deceptively understated site. It has all the usual features, (synopsis, cast and crew bios, trailer) plus very extensive production notes and Q&A session. There are a few interesting features; firstly, the images change as you most the mouse over them. Secondly there are character blurbs, and when you move your mouse over these a second, between the lines, blurb appears. Lastly, if you move the mouse over the word yes at the bottom of the site, words appear on either side of the word, different words for different sections of the site. SERVICE INDUSTRY E SECRET PHILOSOPHER, for example. These hidden features make the site much more enjoyable and are enough for the site to win the affirmative Weekly Website Award during this, very slow week.
