Incredibles Ride into the Sunset
April 9th, 2005
Thanks to very shallow second week drop-offs, Finding Neverland was able to climb to second place with $5.90 million in combined rentals, raising its two week total to $12.84 million. Next on the list was the second new releases, Closer, with $5.56 million in combined rentals. Rounding out the top five was a close battle between Ladder 49 and The Incredibles, which earned $5.33 million and $5.29 million respectively.
Other notes on the rental front, National Lampoon's Gold Diggers theatrical run was so short that it is practically a direct-to-video release, but it brought in $1.29 million during its first week on the rental market, more than three times its domestic total. Speaking of films topping their domestic total on the home market, Raise Your Voice also managed that feat this week.
On the sales side The Incredibles continued to dominate the competition finishing first in DVD and VHS sales. Second on the DVD sales charts was Closer followed by Finding Neverland, After the Sunset and Bambi - Special Edition.
Only two other DVD releases made it into the top twenty sales chart but both of those were older movies. Apollo 13 - Special Edition, finished eighth while Orgazmo - Unrated Edition landed in 14th place.
