Theater Counts

April 15th, 2005

In a classic pump and dump maneuver, The Amityville Horror opens as wide as MGM could manage. This is the studio's final wide release before its takeover by Sony is complete, and it'll be looking for a strong swan song. With little competition from new releases, a number 1 performance seems a given. But the lack of new movies will give the returning movies hope for strong second and third weekends.
