Enron's Stock Rises

April 26, 2005

Only a single film made it into the $10,000 club this weekend as Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room opened with a huge $76,639 in just 3 theaters for an average of $25,546. Last year was a big year for documentaries at the box office, but this year it's been slow so far; hopefully this film's run can help turn it around.

On a side note, House of D fell nearly 80% during its second weekend at the box office. This isn't a case of Schadenfreude, this is a case of sheer confusion. Granted, I've seen films fall that far that fast before, but that usually only happens when a film performs really poorly on its opening weekend, but that can't be said for House of D.

As if to emphasize the slow weekend, there was just one milestone reached this weekend as Millions hit $3 million early in the mid-week.
