Movie Website Updates for June 10 - June 16

June 16, 2005

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Official Site.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin
The trailer was added to the site, but it wasn't as funny as I was hoping for.

Batman Begins
A few more text interview were added but the website still isn't as strong as I was hoping for.

Beautiful Country
The flash site launched this week and it's well done, if a little understated.

Bewitched
The trivia quiz was added to the site, but it feels more like an ad for the DVD release than a feature to keep surfers interested.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Most of the rest of the regular features were added to the site, image gallery, teaser trailer, etc., the first of five games were even added. However, the site still has too many missing features, (bios, production notes, soundtrack, QTVR and four more games) for final grade to be given. ... Ignore that last part. While normally I wouldn't give the award to a film that has this much content marked coming soon, it's a slow week and not only in the site the best on this week's list, but it is also the site with the most potential. And therefore it is the winner of the overindulgent Weekly Website Award.

Corpse Bride
The placeholder site is now has the synopsis, image gallery, (including poster) and trailer.

Dear Wendy
They changed the look a bit, but didn't mess with its award winning qualities.

Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story
The site as all the basics and it's done well, but there's not enough to set it apart from so many other sites.

The Dukes of Hazzard
The full placeholder site is up, but most of the content is still marked coming soon.

Elizabethtown
A photo gallery was added to the placeholder site.

George A. Romero's Land of the Dead
The game was added this week. It's your typical FPS but the level is small and you only have one life.

Heights
No real changes in a long, long time.

Me and You and Everyone We Know
No real changes in a while, although this is the third URL I've found for the site.

My Summer of Love
A few clips were added just in time for tomorrow's opening.

Open Season
They fixed the broken link to the trailer.

The Perfect Man
The only feature still marked coming soon, What I Like About You, is still marked coming soon. However, it is early in the day and it could be added before the day it done. … Just checked and the last feature is up. It's not a personality quiz, it's a place to post messages for you Mom. Ahhhhh, how seet.

Pretty Persuasion
Simple placeholder site with just the trailer, or to be more accurate, a link to the trailer which is on Ifilm.

Sky High
The site is up, and wow does it look cheesy. It's too soon to tell if it's cheesy in a good way or cheesy in a bad way with most of the features are still marked coming soon. There are the character bios, school history, image gallery and trailer to check out, but that's about it.

Somersault
Simple site with all the usual features but it has a really unpolished look.

Stealth
A week later and I'm still the tops on the leaderboard. There are no actual updates to the site this week, I'm just bragging.

The Talent Given Us
No changes in a while.

V For Vendetta
Another news story was posted, this time on the finishing of the principal photography.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Several features were added this week including character bios, trailer and two clips. The film definitely has a British sensibility to it, which should please fans but that might keep a larger audience away.
