People Talking about Untold Story

August 30, 2005

Word of mouth is obviously helped The Untold Story of Emmett Till since it saw its weekend Per Theatre average climb to $12,290, up from $8,695 last weekend. It was also the only film to reach the $10,000 mark during a weekend that saw three films open with per theatre averages below $1,000.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theatre Charts alumni:

  • Grizzly Man is the first of three documentaries to reach milestones this weekend as it topped $1 million.
  • The Aristocrats hit $3 million over the weekend and should easily reached $4 million by next weekend.
  • March of the Penguins surpassed $50 million midweek and then topped $55 million over the weekend. However, for the first time during its run it showed weakness, slipping by almost 27% at the box office. Even so, the film has topped such high budget films as Kicking and Screaming and Kingdom of Heaven.
