Movie Websites Launches for February 20 - February 26

February 26, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Dawn of the Dead - Official Site . If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London
Current Content: Another lesson was added to the Training Device, this time it’s a small game in which you drive a moped while avoiding traffic.

Bon Voyage
Current Content: While there is little in the way of extras on the site, the regular features are all here, (or in the case of the trailer, marked coming soon.) And they are presented in a fitting manner. Each section has its own static animation, if that makes sense. There are several layers and they scroll in parallax. Plus the background music is superb; the best in this week's crop.

Club Dread
Current Content: The main attraction to this site continues to be the weblog, although it does have all the usual features. There are also some extras like a soundboard with over 2 dozen audio clips.

Dawn of the Dead
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and while it has all the usual features, it's the extras that make it stand out. There is a Zombie Timeline that includes appearances of Zombies in movies and fiction and even includes a mention of my favorite horror author, H.P.Lovecraft. Also included is a survival guide, autopsy, a couple of games and lots of text and photos. The regular features are also well done, including very impressive bios, Sarah Polley's is so long it's broken up into 10 parts. (Poor Lindy Booth, on the other hand, has less than one page of text, and they don't even mention her performance in Wrong Turn.) Most sections also have audio clips to start and the background music / groaning is excellent at setting the mood. A couple of multimedia section, (clips and interviews) are marked coming soon. I'm going to wrap this up quick cause that zombie noise on the site is starting to creep me out. It is the winner of the ghoulish Weekly Website Award.

Decoys
Current Content: No changes in the site since last week, but it was a good site last week and it's a good site this week.

Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights
Current Content: There were no changes to the website since last week.

Ella Enchanted
Current Content: Just the placeholder site with the trailer, synopsis and cast and crew (no bios.)

Exorcist: The Beginning
Current Content: A placeholder site with just the name so far.

Godsend
Current Content: This flash site was marked coming soon for a long, long time. And now that it's here, it’s a little weak. The usual features are there, but not much in the way of extras to keep your attention. There are a couple of flash animations that pop up, but that's it.

Good Bye Lenin!
Current Content: No chances since the flash site first launched.

Hellboy
Current Content: I.D. cards for each member of the B.P.R.D. and most wanted list were added. As was a new poster.

Hidalgo
Current Content: The Discover More section was added to the site. It talks about the real-life Frank Hopkins and the wild mustangs he loved.

Jersey Girl
Current Content: The site feels more like the View Askew site than a common movie site. The site as all the usual features, but a more familiar feel to it. There are a few extras as well, like a tour of Highlands, (the small town in which the story takes place), and lots of interviews with the cast and crew. The site could use some more animation and sound.

Mean Girls
Current Content: Placeholder site with the trailer. Also, if you move the mouse cursor over the girls, speech and thought bubbles pop up.

The Passions of the Christ
Current Content: This site has the usual information, with a stronger focus on behind the scene. One of the most unique features is the video message from Mel Gibson. There are more than a dozen songs clips in the background music, which is a great touch. But I could never shake the feeling that the site was just, 'preaching to the choir.'

The Prince and Me
Current Content: Most of the missing bios were added, but the other sections (production notes, video clips and soundtrack) are still marked coming soon.

Raising Helen
Current Content: The trailer and the synopsis were added to the placeholder site.

Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
Current Content: More downloads were added to the placeholder site. The only downloads left to be added are the screen savers, soundboard and the dancing Scooby.

Shark Tale
Current Content: Background music was added to the placeholder site.

Spartan
Current Content: The flash site went live this week, and for the most part it's just the placeholder site with a new format. The new format does include limited sound and animation as well as a few audio clips.

Taking Lives
Current Content: The cast and crew bios were added, as were the production notes.

Twisted
Current Content: A new memory game was added to the placeholder site. Update: Just got an update from the studio, new clips and behind the scenes interviews were added to the site.
