Passions Saves the Box Office

March 3, 2004

There's was not much in the way of good news this week, and what little there was was due to a single movie. The Passion of the Christ topped the per theatre chart and was the only film to top $10,000 per theatre taking in $27,554.

2004 has been so weak that half the top 10 have been on the charts for a month, or more. Films like Latter Days and the re-release of The Battle of Algiers has some remarkable resilience on the per theatre charts.

As to emphasize 2004's problems at the box office, there was just the single noteable milestone. Fog of War topped $2 million at the box office. And after Sunday's Oscar win, it should earn plenty more.
