Movie Websites Launches for March 19 - March 25

March 25, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Official Site . If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

13 going on 30
Current Content: A good portion of the features marked coming soon was added to the site this week. Almost all the features are rather unique extras that tie in with the film. But even will all the features added there are a dozen more marked coming soon.

Batman Begins
Current Content: Just the Bat symbol.

Coffee and Cigarettes
Current Content: Just the synopsis and the trailer.

Connie and Carla
Current Content: Half of the features were added this week including Ms. Match, a game of figuring out which man goes with which drag-queen persona. Also added were History's a Drag and the E-cards leaving just the soundtrack, video clips and Drag Queen Dress Up left to be added.

The Day After Tomorrow
Current Content: Bios and one-on-one questions were added to some of the cast.

Dogville
Current Content: No changes since the flash site first launched. The TV spots and the postcards are still marked coming soon.

Godsend
Current Content: A phony site for the Godsend Institute launched this week. The combination of real science and movie background information makes this an interesting site to check out.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Current Content: There's a brand new site for the third Harry Potter movie, but a lot of the content on this site was on the previous site. The most important addition is the new, full trailer for for Prisoner of Azkaban, in fact, that should be more than enough to convince people to check it out. Information on the Care of Magical Creatures class is also new, and this included information on Hagrid, screensavers, wallpapers, even a couple of games to play. Expect a lot of update between now and June 4th. Overall this is an excellent site with lots of information, games, etc. Of course, it's been around for three years so it should be an awesome website and wins this week's enchanting Weekly Website Award.

Hellboy
Current Content: Background music was added to the site, as was information on tomorrow's special screening in New York and Los Angeles.

Jersey Girl
Current Content: Like Kevin Smith's movies, this site has a more personal feeling to it. This site has a lot of information, synopsis, production notes, production diary (off-site), directors statement, information on the location, even the cast and crew bios and huge compared to most site.

Johnson Family Vacation
Current Content: New flash site is up, but it has less content than the old placeholder site. Right now it just has the trailer, which is off site.

The Ladykillers
Current Content: An award winning site, the Black Jack game was added to the site leaving just the screen saver marked coming soon.

Man on Fire
Current Content: An image gallery was added to the placeholder site.

Mayor of the Sunset Strip
Current Content: The official site for a documentary about the life of one of the most influential DJs of all time should be loaded with music. Unfortunately, it's not. In fact, the format is very plan but at least there's plenty of information about the people involved.

Mean Girls
Current Content: If I were to describe the flash site in just one word, that word would be, 'Coming Soon!' While the format is really well done with plenty of animation and sound, almost all the content is marked coming soon. So far just the trailer, image gallery and most of the downloads are on the site. There's still more than a month till the movie opens, so we should see updates on a regular basis till then.

Ned Kelly
Current Content: Opening in limited release tomorrow the site is simple without animation or sound, (outside the trailer and clips.) There is a lot of content though, the regular features, three video clips from the movie, interviews with some of the cast and crew and historical information as well.

Never Die Alone
Current Content: Background music is a very important feature of a website, when it's done right. On this site, however, the clip is way too repetitive; you hear the same line every ten seconds and that's way too much. That's too bad because it really distracted me from what could have been a good site otherwise. The site has all the usual features plus a couple of extras like a quiz that rates you on the Enlightenment scale and a place to post confessions. And there are even audio clips from the movie. It's just too bad about that song.

The Notebook
Current Content: The flash site went live and it's a bit light on content. No cast and crew bios, for instance. The synopsis is there, so is the trailer, image gallery and downloads. The movie is based on a novel and the first chapter of it is on the site, as it a short interview with the author.

The Prince and Me
Current Content: When the flash site first went live I mentioned how background music was need, and surprisingly enough it was soon added. Then I said how the song should loop, and soon it did. Two weeks ago I hoped that the video section would be added before the movie opened in theatres, unlike a lot of other sites. And low and behold, this week it was. The video section, which was the last section marked coming soon, consists of interviews with Julia Stiles and her co-star in five small segments. The only thing needed for this site to be perfect is for Paramount to send me a Screener, maybe a piece of merchandize or two. (Hey, it's worked so far.)

The Punisher
Current Content: Another section was added to the site bringing the total to four so far. This section brings more background information about the plot without breaking the mood.

Sacred Planet
Current Content: Crew bios, photo gallery and wallpaper were added to the site. Bio for Robert Redford, (the narrator), screensaver, study guide, clips and behind the scenes are still marked coming soon.

Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
Current Content: There were no changes to the site since last week.

Shaolin Soccer
Current Content: The flash site launched this week, which is a bit of a surprise considering how long it was marked coming soon. It is still a bit light on content, but miles ahead of the usual Miramax site.

Shaun of the Dead
Current Contact: Last week I mentioned this site could use more sound, and this week it did. Information on the soundtrack added, and it wasn't just a list of tracks either, clips from all the songs can be played and there's a message from writer / director Edgar Wright about the soundtrack. And that wasn't the only new addition to the site. There was some excellent background music / sounds added that really added something to the site.

Shrek 2
Current Content: This week the flash site launched, but frankly I was expecting more. Sure there's the synopsis, trailer, character bios, downloads and even a game or two. More audio clips and animations for instance. There's still plenty of features marked coming soon so they may be added later on.

Two Men Went to War
Current Content: No changes since the site first launched.

Walking Tall
Current Content: TV Spots were added to the site.

The Whole Ten Yards
Current Content: The gallery was added to the placeholder site.
