Harry Potter Unable to Control Per Theatre Charts

June 9, 2004

In its third weekend of release, Control Room saw its per theatre average increase from $24,755 last weekend to $25,320 this weekend while finishing first on the charts for the third weekend in a row. Add in the fact that this was a post holiday weekend and this film needs to expand to take advantage of the demand and it needs to expand now.

Next on the per theatre average chart was the overall chart leader, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with an average of $24,302. Well back are the re-release, The Corporation with $14,335, the holdover Saved! with $10,978 and the newcomer The Story of the Weeping Camel with $10,883. Saved! held onto its per theatre average impressively as this was a post holiday weekend and its had a large increase in its theatre count; this bodes well for next weekend when its theatre count will grow by more than a factor of 10.

This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:

Coffee and Cigarettes has earn over $1 million during its run so far, and that shouldn't be the last milestone it reaches either.

Super Size Me topped $5 million sometime mid-week, and went on to top $6 million this weekend.
