Movie Websites Launches for August 6 - August 12

August 12, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Silver City - Official Site - sort of. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

After the Sunset
Current Content: The placeholder site underwent a major update. It now has the trailer, an image gallery and four character bios.

Alien vs. Predator
Current Content: A couple of clips were added to the site just in time for tomorrow's opening.

BloodRayne
Current Content: The cast was added to the site, but there are no bios at this time. Also added was two news articles.

Danny Deckchair
Current Content: The site has all the standard features, synopsis, cast and crew bios, trailer, etc. And it presents them in a clever way. Good background music is a plus but the lack of any real extras hurt.

Friday Night Lights
Current Contents: The trailer is back, at least the link is. … Just checked again and the link is fixed.

Hair Show
Current Content: Just the synopsis so far.

The Incredibles
Current Content: The first update in almost two months. A new feature was added to the site under the Video section, "First in line." However, the TV Spots link was removed. The first of three games was added, (a coloring book.) And a lot of the super heroes had images added to their sections marked coming.

Internal Affairs
Current Content: It's a Miramax site.

Layer Cake
Current Content: Just the teaser trailer so far.

National Lampoon's Gold Diggers
Current Content: Just the synopsis and a link to an article that has the trailer.

Nicotina
Current Content: Simple site with only a few pieces of information: the synopsis, the trailer, the cast and crew (no bios) and the image gallery.

Polar Express
Current Content: A big update in the format of the site. It is now either an average flash site or a excellent placeholder site. Given how long it is till the movie opens, I would bet it's the former.

Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Current Content: No updates since last week leaving the production notes, clips, e-cards and web pack marked coming soon.

Racing Stripes
Current Content: An image gallery was added to the placeholder site.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Current Content: The section on promotions was added to the site. It has every song from the soundtrack that you can listen to. There are also contests as well, but unlike our contests they are open to residents of the United States only.

Rockets Redglare!
Current Content: Good content, but the site lacks sound and animation.

Silver City
Current Content: This site technically doesn’t have an official movie site yet. So if it doesn't have an official site, how can it win the Weekly Website Award? Simple, like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Manchurian Candidate had 'official' sites for the companies in the movie, this movie has an 'official' site for Richard Pilager, the Colorado gubernatorial candidate in the movie. Obviously there's very little of the regular features on the site, but it a fun read and a good parody of real Politicians' sites. The timeline alone is worth reading. And it is because of that, and the support of the voters of the Great State of Colorado, that the site wins the bureaucratic Weekly Website Award.

Spanglish
Current Content: A new placeholder site is up and while it has a lot more animation, it manages to have even less content.

Shaun of the Dead
Current Content: This is the new placeholder site for the American release, including a new trailer.

Surviving Christmas
Current Content: New background image and the trailer were added.

THX1138
Current Content: Information about the film was added to the site, as was a theatre listing.

Tom Dowd & the Language of Music
Current Content: Simple site with all the standard features a documentary site should have. I was hoping for background music, especially considering whom this film is about.

Without a Paddle
Current Content: Ten clips were added to the site containing what could be the only ten jokes in the movie.

Yu-Gi-Oh!
Current Content: Nothing new since last week.
