An Oscar to the Best, and a Razzie to the Worst

February 11th, 2003

While the best and most impressive movies of the year can look forward to the accolades that only the Oscars can bring, the worst and most sufferable will endure the award that no one wants to win. On March 22nd, 2003 the 23rd annual Razzies Awards Ceremony will commence; A yearly ritual that usually precedes the Oscars, and that recognizes the years worst in movie making. Like the Oscars, the Razzies have categories to recognize actors, actresses, and directors, however, there are some categories that belong only to the Razzies, such as The Most Flatulently Teen-Targeted Movie, and the Worst Screen Couple Award. Some top spots, so to speak, on the Razzies Nominating Block are:

Worst Picture:

THE ADVENTURES of PLUTO NASH (Warner Bros.)
   CROSSROADS (Paramount)
   Roberto Benigni’s PINOCCHIO (Miramax)
STAR WARS: EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES (Fox/Lucasfilm)
   SWEPT AWAY (Screen Gems)

Fortunately, unlike the Oscars, Razzies are an award that the general public can vote on for the price of a Razzies membership. Unfortunately, and also unlike the Oscars, no one will submit a copy of there movie to all of the judges for award consideration.
