Red Dwarf set to Shine of the Big Screen
April 20th, 2003
Red Dwarf: The Movie, which has been in 'pre-production' for the better part of a decade, is finally almost ready to starting shooting. Doug Naylor, who is the writer and the director, is in Australia looking for studio space for a September start. The choice for the location is a bit of a surprise, as it was assumed it would shoot in the U.K. However, by the time they were ready to shoot there was no studio space available. So the move was necessary.
That is not to say Australia is a bad choice to shoot Red Dwarf. In fact, Australia has become the center of Sci-Fi world with Farscape, Matrix and Star Wars all being shot there. So there are a lot of very skilled workers ready to take on the challenge of bringing Lister, Kryten, Rimmer and Cat to the big screen.
Red Dwarf is one of the most popular and longest running shows on British Television.
