Per Theater Chart: Tales has Wild Debut

Wild Tales was the only film in the $10,000 club over the weekend earning an average of $21,275 in four theaters. However, What We Do in the Shadows is an interesting case. It expanded to 16 theaters over the weekend, sort of, earning an average of $8,033. The reason I said "sort of" is that in many theaters it had special showings, not a full run. It is really hard to reach the $10,000 mark on the per theater chart when several theaters are only showing the film once a night instead of more than a dozen times a weekend.

We only have numbers for one other new limited release, Badlapur. The Bollywood release earned an average of $2,778 in 82 theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • 2015 Oscar Shorts got to $2 million over the weekend and it has a shot at becoming the first film in the franchise to get to $3 million. However, now that the Oscars are over, it will likely quickly collapse at the box office.
  • Mr. Turner just managed to reach $3 million over the weekend and it still has a shot at $4 million.
  • Still Alice topped $5 million over the weekend and with its Oscar win, it will have no problem getting to $10 million this weekend.
