Terminator: Genisys

Terminator: Genisys remained in first place on the international chart, but with only $11.5 million in 8 markets. This lifted its international total to $346.3 million, while it now has $435.9 million worldwide. This helped the film become the second biggest hit in the franchise, assuming you don't take inflation into account. In China, the film managed $26.67 million, but that was for the full week, giving the film a total of $111.92 million after 15 days of release.

Hitman: Agent 47 rose to second place with $11.4 million in 72 markets for three-week totals of $43.2 million internationally and $62.9 million worldwide. The film is doing a lot better internationally than it has done domestically, but it won't be enough to save the film's financial outcome. Its best opening of the weekend was in Russia where it topped the chart with $1.89 million on 1,801 screens over the weekent for a total opening of $2.00 million.

Minions landed in third place with $10.9 million in 58 markets over the weekend for totals of $714.2 million internationally and $1.043 million worldwide. The film remained in first place in Italy with $5.41 million on 830 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $17.23 million.

Ant-Man returned to the chart in fourth place with $10.0 million in 36 markets over the weekend for totals of $210.5 million internationally and $383.7 million worldwide. The vast majority of its weekend haul came from South Korea, where it earned first place with $8.08 million on 946 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $9.30 million. The film has yet to open in Japan and China, so it should continue to climb the worldwide chart and while it won't match the average for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will be very profitable.

The Dead End earned second place in China and fifth place internationally with $9.9 million over the weekend for a total of $42.95 million.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation fell to sixth place with $9.4 million in 65 markets over the weekend for totals of $328.7 million internationally and $509.2 million worldwide. The film opened in China on Tuesday, so it will have a big result this weekend.

Straight Outta Compton entered the top ten for the first time earning seventh place with $7.9 million in 14 markets over the weekend for an international total of $18.1 million. Its biggest single market was the U.K. where it pulled in $2.10 million in 456 theaters over the weekend for a two-week total of $8.92 million.

Inside Out slipped a spot to eighth place with $7.1 million over the weekend for totals of $386.2 million internationally and $734.5 million worldwide. The film opens in Italy, not this weekend but next weekend, with Germany and China still to go.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. returned to the top ten in ninth place with $6.2 million in 65 markets over the weekend for totals of $46.0 million internationally and $87.9 million worldwide. It is performing better internationally than it did domestically, for the most part. so it should have no trouble getting to $100 million worldwide. That will be enough to save face, but not enough to break even any time soon. Mexico was the film's biggest new release of the weekend. It earned $905,000 on 868 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $997,000. It only managed fourth place in Brazil with $595,000 on 446 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $611,000. Finally, the film could do no better than sixth place in Italy with $432,000 on 314.

Ted 2 fell to tenth place with $4.7 million over the weekend. Ted 2 earned this in 45 markets pushing its international total to $120.0 million, while its worldwide total grew to $201.3 million. This is less than half of what the original movie made, but still enough to break even during its initial push into the home market.

Veteran dropped out of the top ten, but it still did well in South Korea earning $4.07 million on 667 screens over the weekend for a total of $77.99 million. It is about a week away from overtaking Assassination for the number one film in that market this year.

Jurassic World hit another milestone topping $1 billion internationally. Over the weekend, it made $2.7 million in 30 markets over the weekend for totals of $1.003 billion internationally and $1.650 billion worldwide. Only four films in the history of cinema have earned more than $1 billion internationally. Two of those movies came out this year, the other being Furious 7. Both were released by Universal. This has been an amazing year for the studio.
