Wednesday Estimates: Dinosaur and Creed Good, Frankenstein DOA

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 led the way on Wednesday with $13.8 million. That's just 5.6% lower than Part 1's daily box office at this point in its run, compared to a 16% shortfall during its opening weekend. This is good news for the film's legs and it means it might still top its predecessor's final number. Might.
As for the new releases, The Good Dinosaur earned second place with $9.8 million. That's just shy of 60% more than Penguins of Madagascar opened with this weekend last year. If this film has the same legs, it will make just over $40 million / $57 million during the weekend, which is a good opening for this time of year. Hopefully its reviews will help it beat those numbers, but matching expectations will be hard.
Creed was third with $6.0 million, which is a little ahead of predictions. Add in its reviews and there's a chance the film will be at $40 million by the end of business on Sunday. Even $35 million will put $100 million in its sights.
Meanwhile Victor Frankenstein showed no life with just $620,000. The studio will lose a fortune on this one.
