Thursday Night Previews: Arrival Won’t Get Shut Out

November 11, 2016

Arrival

Arrival earned an impressive $1.45 million during its previews last night. This is a little more than the $1.4 million Gravity earned this time in 2013. Granted, midnight shows were not as ubiquitous as they are now, but I still think this is a positive sign. Its reviews should help its legs and while our prediction was a little more bullish than most, I’m a little more confident now.

Almost Christmas was well back with $507,000 during its previews. By comparison, Boo! A Madea Halloween earned $855,000 during its previews, but it was part of an established franchise and that usually results in a more front-loaded run. The reviews have bounced back and are now at 41% positive. This is good enough for the genre.

There are no numbers for Shut In and we might not get numbers any time soon. Check back later in the day to see if that’s changed.
