Theater Averages: Salesman Closes the Deal with $23,693

There was only one film the $10,000 club this past weekend, The Salesman, which earned an average of $23,693 in three theaters.

The best of the rest of the new limited releases was Kung Fu Yoga with an average of $7,999 in 14 theaters. Raees was very close behind with an average of $7,025 in 256 theaters. Buddies in India was well back in with an average of $3,304 in 55 theaters, while Un Padre No Tan Padre was close behind with $3,137 in 312. Emily only managed $1,164 in one theater. Finally, Speed Sisters earned $370, also in one theater.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • 20th Century Women got to $3 million before the weekend and nearly $4 million during the weekend.
  • Silence reached $6 million over the weekend, but that’s probably its final milestone.
  • Manchester by the Sea hit $40 million early in the weekend. It could get to $45 million, especially if it wins an Oscar.
  • Fences got an Oscar / SAG bounce and that helped it get to $50 million.
  • Hidden Figures and La La Land hit $100 million on Saturday becoming the 27th and 28th films released in 2016 to get to the century mark.
