2016 - Awards Season: WGA - Winners

The Writers Guild of America are the late major guild group to announce winners before the Oscars. We could see a small change in Oscar chances with a couple of winners tonight.

The categories and winners are...

Best Original Screenplay

• Berry Jenkins and Tarell McCraney for Moonlight

• Eric Heisserer for Arrival

• Robert Kenner and Eric Schlosser for Command and Control

• Berry Jenkins and Tarell McCraney won for Moonlight, topping Damien Chazelle who was considered the favorite to win for La La Land.
• The Best Adapted Screenplay was a really close race, but I’m glad Eric Heisserer for Arrival. That film or Hidden Figures were the two I was cheering for. Hidden Figures tells a more important story, but you can’t complain with Arrival’s win.
• Command and Control wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar, so its win doesn’t change the Oscar race.
