Two Tops on Per Theater Chart

August 14, 2007

2 Days in Paris was number one on the per theater chart with an average of $17,364 in its 10 theaters. This suggests a strong possibility it will expand and it should earn at least some measure of mainstream success. The overall box office leader, Rush Hour 3, was the only other film to top $10,000 as it grabbed an average of $12,996.

While only two films were able to top $10,000, Rocket Science came very close with $9,756 and it too should expand over the coming weeks. Two foreign language films were next as In Paris earned an average or $6,116 while Chak De India managed $5,676. Descent was decent, opening with an average of $4,206, while Crossing the Line struggled with just $2,605.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • As expected, Sunshine reached $3 million, but that's as far as the film will go.
  • Talk to Me also reached $3 million, but it should have little trouble making it to $4 million and possibly even $5 million.
  • Becoming Jane earned almost $3 million over the weekend while it has hit several milestones since last week, the most recent being $4 million. It should hit $5 million some time today, and it might have the legs to reach $10 million before it is done.
