Reprise Wears the Crown of the Per Theater Chart

May 20, 2008

Reprise earned nearly $50,000 in three theaters over the weekend for a per theater average of $16,353, which was enough to top the charts. The only other film to reach the $10,000 mark was Prince Caspian, which earned a disappointing average of $14,007.

New releases were few and far between, but Sangre de mi sangre performed reasonably well with $8,385. On the other hand, How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer earned barely more than $1000 per theater pulling in just over $90,000 in 84 theaters for an average of $1,088.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Charts alumni:

  • Caramel finally reached $1 million at the box office after months of release.
  • Flawless also hit $1 million since last week, but that's as far as it will go.
  • On the other hand, Then She Found Me, which is one of three films to reach $1 million since last time, is already halfway to $2 million.
  • The Visitor hit $3 million over the weekend and $4 million is easily within reach.
