Weekend Estimates: Kung Fu Panda and Zohan Combine for $100 Million

June 8, 2008

Kung Fu Panda and You Don't Mess With the Zohan both opened strongly over the weekend. Panda made an impressive $60 million, according to Paramount's Sunday estimate, about on par with Pixar's Cars and Monsters, Inc.. Zohan, meanwhile, pulled in an estimated $40 million, which is almost exactly the same as most of Adam Sandler's other comedy releases (see Click, 50 First Dates, Anger Management, Mr. Deeds, Big Daddy and The Waterboy).

Overall, box office for the weekend is up from last year -- the first up weekend in three weeks.
