Deal with the Devil on the Per Theater Chart

Antichrist was the only new release to reach the $10,000 club over the weekend earning a strong average of $11,900 in six theaters. An Education was just $49 behind at $11,851, which is about 5 or 6 tickets per theater. Finally, Paranormal Activity was able to reach first place on the overall chart while maintaining an average $10,850 in nearly 2000 theaters.

There were only a couple other new releases that managed to earn decent average this week with (Untitled), which earned an average of $6,001, while Killing Kasztner was close behind with $5,513. Ong-Bak 2 struggled with an average of $2,656. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D didn't bounce back earning just $1,365 in 105 theaters. Motherhood was even weaker with an average of $1,043. Finally we get to The Canyon, which opened with an average of $893.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Charts alumni:

  • Good Hair expanded significantly over the weekend, which helped it reach $2 million during its run.
  • A Serious Man had its best weekend so far topping the $3 million mark in the process.
