Kells Success is no Secret
There were only two films to top $10,000 on the per theater chart, but they both did amazingly well. The Secret of Kells led the way with $39,826 in one theater, including a sellout of all seven shows on Saturday. Second place went to the overall number one film, Alice in Wonderland, which earned an average of $31,143.
There were only two other new limited releases that we have numbers for: Harlan: In the Shadow of Jew Suss just missed the $10,000 mark with $9,258 in one theater and Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? earned an average of $2,531 in 40 theaters.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Charts alumni:
- Ghost Writer's expansion continues to do well and it topped $2 million over the weekend and it is already halfway to $3 million.
- Likewise, The Last Station reached $4 million over the weekend and is already halfway to $5 million. Since it was shut out at the Oscars, this will likely be the film's last major milestone.
