Per Theater Chart: Restrepo Prevents a Cyrus Repeat

June 29, 2010

Restrepo opened in top spot on the per theater chart with an average of $17,791 in two theaters. This was just a hair above Cyrus' average of $17,719 during its second weekend of release. Further expansion is all but assured, as are at least a couple of earning milestones. Toy Story 3 remained in top spot on the overall chart, earning an average of $14,731. Meanwhile, a fellow wide release, Grown Ups, was the only other film in the $10,000 club, opening with an average of $11,462.

We only have box office numbers so far for one other new limited release: Wild Grass. It did quite well with an average of $7,832 in five theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Winter's Bone just barely made it to $1 million over the weekend; however, it will have little trouble getting to $2 million before long.
  • Solitary Man topped $2 million late in the weekend and in a few weeks will be at $3 million.
  • Speaking of $3 million, Please Give reached that milestone over the weekend. It has peaked at the box office, but it likely still has enough left to get to $4 million, and maybe even $5 million.
  • The Secret in Their Eyes hit $5 million since last week, but that will be the film's last major milestone.
