Movie Websites Launches for February 27 - March 4

March 4, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, The Prince & Me - Official Site . If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

13 going on 30
Current Content: The flash site launched, sort of. It currently only has the same features the place holder site had, (trailer and the synopsis) everything else it marked coming soon. But there is a lot marked coming soon. Should be a great site once it's all there.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London
Current Content: The final lesson was added to the Training Device. The final lesson is a quiz and if you pass you can download special wallpaper. But considering you can get all the questions wrong and still pass, it's not that special.

The Alamo
Current Content: A new, enhanced trailer was added to the site. Much like the enhanced trailer on the King Arthur site, it extras you can access as each character is introduced in the trailer.

Around the World in 80 Days
Current Content: Just a design change to the placeholder site.

The Chronicles of Riddick
Current Content: The second chapter of the Hunt for Riddick was added.

Connie and Carla
Current Content: Just a resign of the placeholder site.

The Day After Tomorrow
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it is huge. Fortunately enough of the site is marked coming soon so the surfer isn't overwhelmed. There are four main sections, one for user profiles, one on the weather, on for multimedia and one on the movie production. The latter two sections are mostly marked coming soon. The cast and crew bios are still marked coming soon, so are most of the multimedia sections.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Current Content: Another flash site that launched this week. And while the site has the usual features, (synopsis, trailer, cast bios, (crew bios are marked coming soon), production notes, image gallery) it does present them with some unique style. There are some extras, but they are also marked coming soon.

Hidalgo
Current Content: The cast and crew bios are still marked coming soon. They should be added shortly.

Home on the Range
Current Content: Most of the downloads were added to the games and downloads sections. That leaves just the games and screensavers.

I, Robot
Current Content: The new flash site has a good mixture of usual features and extras. And if you go through all the content on this site you get to unlock three extra wallpapers. There are a couple of sections, (video and audio) marked coming soon, as well as the bios for the cast and crew.

The Prince and Me
Current Content: With the soundtrack to this film being released tomorrow, the soundtrack section of the site was added to the site. Also added was some background music, which is surprising. I know I previously mentioned that might happen when the soundtrack section was added, but that was wishful thinking on my part. Good news, the background music is a full-length instrumental version of the first song on the soundtrack. Bad news, it doesn't loop so you only get to hear it once and there is so much information that the song will end before you get through it all. You can also hear the full song in the soundtrack section, as well as watch the video. There were also a few more bios added to the site, meaning the only sections left that are still marked coming soon are production notes and videos. With the movie's release still almost a month away, this site as come together nicely and is the winner of the regal Weekly Website Award.

The Punisher
Current Content: It's not on the site yet, but another trailer hit the Internet this past week.

The Reckoning
Current Content: Got a bone to pick with this site. Both the cast and crew bios are one long page that you have to scroll through to read. And you can't even speed up the scroll, so if you want to read the last bio on the list you just have to wait.

Red Trousers
Current Content: A simple site where all the content is presented in pop up windows. This means there is no animation and very little sound outside the four multimedia clips. The multimedia clips consist of two trailers and two interview clips. The synopsis section also has a complete song that plays in the background.

Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
Current Content: The flash site launched, but it was mostly just what was on the placeholder site with an improved design. Granted, it's a very big improvement in design with plenty of sound and animation. There were also a couple of new additions in the downloads section and a few games added. On a side note, Velma has only 3 quotes on the soundboard, and two of them are "Jinkies." Linda Cardellini was my favorite cast member the first time around, so this is worrying to me.

Shaun of the Dead
Current Content: So far the site only has the trailer.

Starsky and Hutch
Current Content: Nothing new since I last reviewed the site.

The Stepford Wives
Current Content: Just the teaser trailer.

United States of Leland
Current Content: Four clips were added to the site.

Van Helsing
Current Content: I think this site is being updated as I type. The bios are there, but it's all filler text and the storyboards have been added, but all the links are broken. I expect the updates to be completed very shortly, and I'll check the site once more before I publish this column.
